If you really want to feed the hungry grow potatoes, most efficient crop to grow!
The idea is good, but I find donating rice quite foolish, rice takes quite alot of effort to grow which brings back my #1 question.
Due to the fact they are not being smart I doubt the credibility.
    Hi Ansem!

    1. You can check out the validity of the program on many sites on Google.

    2. I am not sure if potatoes are easier or more efficient to grow then rice but one cup of uncooked rice equals 2 cups cooked whereas 1 uncooked potato equals 1 cooked potato. Also rice last very much longer than potatoes.

    3. The World Food Programme is part of the United Nations. This site WFP in numbers | WFP | United Nations World Food Programme - Fighting Hunger Worldwide will give you access to what they are doing.

    4. It is up to you to think of them as not being smart, but I disagree.

You find donating rice foolish? You probably find increasing one's vocabulary foolish too? Do the research - It is part of The United Nations World Food Program found at the site http://www.wfp.org/...the official site --> there, if you scroll to the bottom of the page, you will SEE that the Freerice game is one of the products that they offer.

Not that any system is really credible nowadays, it IS better than doing nothing and bitching. Enough said. Also, since I LIVE (by choice) in Africa...there are people doing good, hunger is being alleviated and what people are doing IS helping.

Thank you to those who care and DO something - even if it means just improving your vocabulary!

You may think you are clever to post this and that other people are not smart, but you will not make any friends with this post. The reason this has caught the imagination is that people who want to help others but don't have money to send can contribute and have fun at the same time. As well as helping the hungry, it helps those who participate to increase both their knowledge and their self-esteem. If that's not smart, I don't know what is.

I suppose we should pity you, because it's pretty obvious there's not much fun in your life if you feel the need to post this sort of thing in such a positive thread.

I checked out freerice.com ages ago, when they first launched.

They've been so firmly entrenched for so long, it's actually kind of amusing to see someone questioning their credibility.
