    Russian Food

I'm a Russian born, raised, and living in America however I was raised and still live in a "Russian" environment. Many people don't really know what Russian food is, so I decided to share with you. Russian food includes LOTS of meat. Most Russian dishes involve meat in some way. However, food such as buckwheat (It's polish origin, but it is immensely popular in Russia) is an option for vegetarians wanting to try to experience Russian culture. In the multiple occasions I've been to Russia, chicken broth is drunk often. Chunks of meat (various animals, most often beef) if eaten. I can't really think of specifics off the top of my head, however if anybody has any questions, I will be happy to answer!

I haven't come across Russian food lately. I've heard about Pierogi though. (Is that how you spell Pierogi? ) What is Pierogi? :P

I have never had Russian food before either, but it definitely does sound pretty interesting. I think I may look up some recipes for it and see what I might like to try and make or at least try it somewhere. So, what is your favorite kind of Russian food?

    Re: Russian Food

I have really, really liked the little Russian food I've had and would love to try more. There's a famous Russian bakery here in Seattle in the Pike Place Market I've been going to for 20 years. I think I've tried every kind of piroshki they make. It's called Piroshky Piroshky Piroshky Bakery: Home: Best Russian Bakery This Side of the World!

I've also had 2 kinds of borscht. One was cold and the other was hot with chunks of beef in it. That was really good.

Lastly, cabbage rolls, which I love and often make at home.

But, that's it, that's all I know, and I don't know what else to try or learn to make. Any suggestions?
